Many political philosophers and European doctrines helped shape the U.S. Constitution. Some of the philosophers being John Locke and Thomas Hobbes.
Thomas Hobbes was one of the main political philosophers that helped shape our U.S. Constitution. Thomas wrote a book called the “leviathan”. Thomas created many political theories behind the modern political philosophy. The constitution states “we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endured by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are the life, liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” Thomas Hobbes influenced the idea that all men are equal.
John Locke, another English philosopher, influenced our U.S. Constitution. John Locke is known as “The Father of Classical Liberalism”. His beliefs were the right to natural life, liberty, possessions, and health. It is thought that his beliefs helped the writing of the declaration of independence as well as the U.S. Constitution.
Another great philosopher is Jean-Jacques Rousseau who also helped shape our U.S. Constitution. He is a German philosopher and writer. He also influenced the French revolution. Jean-Jacques Rousseau believed that men are free and equal, and that enslaving people is very wrong and inhumane. He also believed that a government should be other individuals directed the form of, which goes to show that he also helped the writing of the U.S. Constitution.
In conclusion, all three of these philosophers are very important people who helped influence our history with their beliefs. Without these three men our history, lives, declaration of independence, and U.S. Constitution would not be the same.
