Duty of care in my own work role equates to a safeguarding of myself and the people I care for. It is not only a need to carry out a greater amount of care and vigilance to avoid dereliction of duty which leads to the harming of those under my care but a legal obligation. It means that I need to carry out my duties with diligence and in line with policies and procedures within my scope of practice. My duty of care also relates to my allowing the people I care for to be allowed to make choices and manage risks within safe reasoning. Duty of care in my work role means I need to keep a high standard of care and service to my client always having their best interests at heart when it comes to their safety and wellbeing. My duty of care is also to work within my scope of practice and not to do anything that is beyond my capabilities.
