25 years ago failing was allowed in school. Some people think that failing should be allowed now. Should students be allowed to fail? Students should not fail at school. Failing can cause depression, stress and other mental diseases. Also, failing can cause bullying for not passing the grade. Finally, failing can cause isolation since their friends are moving to the next grade without them.
Failing can cause depression and anxiety which can cause the student to lose interest in learning, feel guilty for failing (even if they tried), have low self-worth (they won’t believe in themselves), and they’ll lose concentration in class. Due to this, some people considered committing suicide. A study has shown a fifth of Canadian students are depressed and anxious or battling other mental health issues, according to a new national survey that finds more students are reporting being in distress than three years ago.”The number of students saying they seriously considered suicide in the prior year was 13 percent, up 3.5 percent from 2013, for example.” Ms. McGrath said. If they don’t fail they won’t have any of these problems.
They could be bullied by their peers for not passing the grade. They are more likely to drop out of school due to the name calling or insults. Some victims of bullying may turn to violent means of retaliation. Bullying may contribute to a negative school social climate that is not conducive to good social relationships or learning. Some severely bullied victims have tried suicide as a means to escape their tormentors. Bullying can also cause their grades to go even lower than before or fail again. At least 1 in 3 adolescent students in Canada have reported being bullied recently. If there was another reason to bully someone added to all the other things they get bullied for than the numbers would climb even more.
The students who fail are more likely to feel isolated since their friends are moving to the next grade without them. Studies on isolation have shown that isolation impacts the development of the brain, which can cause the students to have the struggle to understand the things taught. The people that feel isolated have a harder time working together in groups and they are more likely to develop low self-esteem. A child who is lonely may feel that others are rejecting him. He may lose confidence in himself and eventually believe he or she has nothing valuable to offer. They are also more likely to engage in risky behaviours. Teens may smoke, abuse drugs, vandalize property or do other risky things if they think it will help them feel accepted into society. Isolation has a negative impact on the brain and human body.

Finally, failing can cause isolation since their friends are moving to the next grade without them. This is why students should not fail at school. If failing is not added to school this will contribute to a better learning environment in many ways.
